Walter Dilworth Obituary
The memorial service for Walter Dilworth will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 21, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bellechester with Fr. Randal Kasel as celebrant and Fr. Bruce Peterson as con-celebrant. Burial will be in St. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Mazeppa with Military Rites by the Mazeppa American Legion Post No. 588.
Mr. Dilworth, 79, of rural Zumbro Falls, passed away at his home on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2016.
Walter Francis Dilworth was born Sept. 22, 1937 in Rochester to William and Frances (Fakler) Dilworth. He attended school in Rochester and graduated from Lourdes High School.
Walter served his country in the U.S. Army from March 4, 1956 to March 3, 1958. He married Marcella Krier on May 7, 1960 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bellechester.
The Dilworth’s lived in Rochester until 1965 when they moved to the farm in rural Zumbro Falls. Walter worked at IBM in Rochester for 34 years, and also farmed in rural Zumbro Falls. He liked woodworking and working on cars. He could fix anything, and liked to putz. Walter was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bellechester and the Mazeppa American Legion Post No. 588.
Walter is survived by his loving wife, Marcella Dilworth of Zumbro Falls; a daughter, Theresa (Robert) Harris of Maple Grove; a son, David Dilworth of Lake City and special friend Pam Befort; three grandchildren, Rebecca Harris, Samuel Harris, and Jon Dilworth; and two sisters, Mary Jane (Del) Ihrke of St. Charles, and Elaine (Art) DePuy of Rochester. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends and family may visit from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at the church. Memorials are preferred.
