Wayne Carlson Obituary
Wayne G. Carlson, 61, of Lake City, passed away Friday, Aug. 19, 2016 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Wayne was born May 4, 1955 in Lake City to Roy and Eleanor (Holst) Carlson. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Wayne graduated from Lincoln High School in 1973. He married Janet Grobe July 31, 1976 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake City. He co-owned Carlson Decorating with his brother Doug for many years. He then worked for Carpet One in Rochester for six years. Wayne then started Carlson Tile and Marble Business which he operated until his health forced him to retire. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Lake City and was a very active member of the Frontenac Sportsman’s Club, serving as president for two years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends and son Andy. But most of all loved playing with his two little granddaughters, his beautiful Mallorie and his little “red tornado” Macie.
He is survived by his wife, Janet; son, Andy (Cassie) Carlson of Lake City; daughter, Ashley (Byron) Ramirez of Lake City; two granddaughters, Mallorie and Macie Carlson; three brothers, Jan (Sally) Carlson of Loveland, Colo., Craig and Doug Carlson, both of Lake City; and sister, Diane (Steve) Prigge of Winona. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Eleanor Carlson and a nephew Ben Carlson.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Aug. 23, at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Lake City with Rev. Duane Holst officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery in Lake City. Visitation will be Monday, Aug. 2, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City.
