Wendella Handshaw Obituary

Wendella Handshaw, 77, of Lake City, passed away Monday, Jan. 11, 2016 at her home in Lake City with her family by her side.
    Wendella Ann Peters was born Dec. 12, 1938 in Lake City to Albert and Erna (Uslar) Peters. She attended rural Wabasha County Schools and Lincoln Highs School in Lake City and graduated from Wabasha High School in 1957. She married Floyd “Pete” Handshaw at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake City.
    Wendella lived her entire life time in the Lake City area. She enjoyed farming with her husband and raising her family on the farm. Wendella loved to go to garage sales, driving her old pickup, and reading books. She especially enjoyed gardening, raising vegetables and flowers.
    Wendella is survived by two children, Dawn (Brian) Baer of Lake City and Brian Handshaw of Welch; three grandchildren, Donna, Dana and Dusty; one sister, Merraine (James) Marking of Lake City; one brother, Elton Peters of Lake City; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Pete on November 20, 1990.
    The funeral service was Thursday, Jan. 14, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake City with Pastor John Berg officiating. Burial was in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Lake City.
