A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION OF
ORDINANCE NO. 624
BY TITLE AND SUMMARY
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lake City has adopted Ordinance No. 624, titled “An Ordinance Amending Title V, Chapter 51, Relating to Authorizing an Energy Cost Adjustment on Electric Utility Bills;” and
WHEREAS, the City Charter allows publication by title and summary in the case of lengthy ordinances; and
WHEREAS, the Ordinance is five pages in length; and
WHEREAS, the City Council believes that the following summary will clearly inform the public of the intent and effect of the Ordinance; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY the City of Lake City City Council:
1. On March 13, 2023, the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 624, an Ordinance Amending Title V, Chapter 51 of the City Code Relating to Authorizing an Energy Cost Adjustment on Electric Utility Bills. The ordinance allows the City Council, upon recommendation of the Utility Board, to implement and utilize an Energy Cost Adjustment Policy. An Energy Cost Adjustment Policy will allow the City to account for fluctuations in energy costs charged to the City monthly by SMMPA, the City’s wholesale power provider by adjusting utility billing amounts up or down. This Policy applies to commercial electrical service rates, industrial service rates, and residential service rates.
2. The City Clerk is directed to publish this summary in lieu of publication of the entire ordinance.
3. The City Clerk is directed to post a copy of the entire text of Ordinance No. 624 at City Hall, the City of Lake City Public Library, and on the City of Lake City web site for a period of not less than 10 days. In addition, a printed copy of Ordinance No. 624 is available for inspection by any person during regular office hours at the Lake City City Hall.
