Several Tiger girls earn All-Conference honors at Hiawatha Valley League meet

The Hiawatha Valley League Conference Track and Field Meet was held May 9 in Stewartville, where Lake City Tiger athletes turned in several standout performances and earned multiple All-Conference honors.

Byron High School captured the girls team title with 265.5 points, while Stewartville High School finished second with 190 points. Lake City placed seventh overall with 61 points.

The following Tiger athletes earned All-Conference honors: Delilah Benjamin, Olivia Yotter, Eden Olson, Ava Emerson, Kylin Muenkel, Zoey Beltz, and Clara Yotter.

Lake City had two relay teams finish among the top teams in the conference meet. The Tigers’ 4x800-meter relay team of Eden Olson, Ava Emerson, Clara Yotter and Olivia Yotter claimed the conference championship with a winning time of 9:54.47.

The 4x400-meter relay team of Kylin Muenkel, Zoey Beltz, Delilah Benjamin and Olivia Yotter placed second in 4:19.

Individually, Olivia Yotter won the 800-meter run with a personal-best time of 2:21.60. Eden Olson added a third-place finish in the event with a time of 2:29.09.

Brenna Traynor finished seventh in the 1600 meters with a season-best time of 5:56.99, while Clara Yotter placed eighth in the 3200 meters in 12:57.76.

In the field events, Allison Helmin recorded a personal-best throw of 30 feet, 3 inches to place fourth in the shot put.
