Nafe qualifies as alternate for regional finals

Eighth grader Joey Nafe finished seventh at the Spelling Bee Regional Semifinals in Rochester Feb. 13. Joey is the alternate for the Feb. 27 Spelling Bee Regional Final in Rochester. The winner on the Feb. 27 is granted a trip to Washington, D.C. for the Scripps Spelling Bee National Finals.

Bluff View expansion causes school levy jump

The Lake City School Board voted Dec. 18 to approve a 2018 property tax levy of just over $4 million, an increase or 17.24 percent over this year.
