Letter: Don’t vote against yourself

Oct 14, 2026

The New Republicans won’t tell you one thing: from Donald all the way to the bottom officeholder, they all enjoyed the benefits of good policies that they themselves are now trying to kill. Do you think it’s just good luck that you didn’t get deathly ill from measles or contract polio as a child?...

Letter: Vanquishing corruption begins with voting out those responsible

Oct 14, 2026

As the mid-term election approaches, I think it is appropriate for Americans to take stock of life as it exists. Is your life better off than 5 years ago? Overseas conflicts and war, inflation and the cost of living continue to rise while the response of our national leaders appears to be...

Letter: Our federal government is failing us

Sep 23, 2026

We pledge allegiance to the flag and to the republic for which it stands. Godly principles. We the people. One nation under God blessed by God. Things should be alright. Someone said we are a republic; democracy is just the way we do things. When people can be educated to believe they live in a...

Pay to play policy in effect

Aug 20, 2025

There appears to be a new practice used by the current president to implement his agenda. Before I get into this practice with examples, I want to make the point that it is an American tradition and that most American citizens see public office as a fiduciary position impacting how the duties of...

Fewer have more thanks to big bill

Jul 9, 2025

The beauty of the One Big Beautiful Bill recently signed into law by the president is in the eyes of the beholder. The numbers and statements that follow apply to the next federal budget and do not take into account the long-term impact of this law which appears to be even more severe. Tax cuts...

The time for good trouble is now

Jul 2, 2025

In the Graphic last week, Robert Pope disparaged those of us who choose to protest as if it should not be done. Anyone familiar with our nation’s history knows that protest has played an important role. Specifically, “There is nothing more fundamentally American than protesting injustice. Protest...
