Banner marks city’s banner year

Printmaking artist and Lake City native Stephen McKenzie led the creation of a 40-foot banner celebrating Lake City’s 150th anniversary on Sunday in the Lake City Federal Bank parking lot.

Under his direction, particpants staged, designed, and painted Lake City-themed art with water based ink. Afterward they covered it with special fiber cloth and McKenzie pressed the images onto a long banner with a road construction roller press.

The resulting banner is 40 feet long and hangs in the Lake City Area Arts center.
