The Pearl of the Lake had just begun its fourth passage loaded with bicycles and riders Saturday when the sky over Lake Pepin opened up.
The ninth annual Tour de Pepin, which had started in Saturday morning’s sunshine, ended in a downpour.
A few cyclists remained on the 100-mile Century loop and several dozen were still riding on the 72-mile Lac Plein route when thunderstorms hit the area at mid afternoon.
