Center's picnic area will honor veterans
Leo “Barney” Freese was a man of many achievements, including his service to his country during World War II, his success in architecture and business, and his love for his family and community.
Just before he passed away Dec. 16, 2015 at age 89, he combined all of his passions and accomplishments into a project to create a picnic area for local veterans and families. Freese envisioned a welcoming, accessible space honoring veterans at his home at the care center at Mayo Clinic Health System in Lake City. And he was nothing if not persistent.
