On Sept. 16, the Mayo Southeast Chapter 28 of Disabled American Veterans (DAV) presented a plaque to Pearl of the Lake Paddlewheel Boat owner Larry Nielson “in recognition and thanks for their steadfast commitment and continued generosity.”
DAV provides services to armed forces veterans with disabilities. One of those is the outdoors program, the purpose of which “is to get disabled veterans and their families outdoors to enjoy a variety of outdoors events,” according to Ellsworth Fields, senior vice commander of Chapter 28.
