Dog trained in honor of Lion graduates

The Lake City Lions Club has announced that the puppy Vern has graduated from the Lions Leader Dogs for the Blind facility in Rochester, Mich.

The club sponsored Vern’s training through a memorial from the family of the late Vernon Hinck, a former member of the club.

Vern now serves as a leader dog for Marc Astort Oller, of Spain.

He is the first of five dogs at the Fort Dodge Correctional Facility in Fort Dodge, Iowa, sponsored by the club to graduate from the training.
