Family, school rise up to remember Katie Goihl

On Saturday June 11, our daughter, Katie Goihl, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly from chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML). We had just learned of the diagnosis three days prior to her passing away. What was supposed to be a routine visit to the doctor on Wednesday, June 8 for general feelings of fatigue and anxiety, turned out to be something much worse.

I can still remember Kathy Lofberg whispering those devastating words in my ear as she hugged me, “I’m sorry, your daughter has leukemia.” I was in shock and thought she cannot be right!
