Firemen’s dance canceled, modified door prize drawing planned

In what could be the first time in over 120 years, the Lake City Fire Department won’t be holding the Lake City Fireman’s Dance.

“This would have been the 122nd year of the dance,” Firefighter Justin Novak said. “To my knowledge we’ve never had a canceled dance even during times of war and whatever challenges this country has faced.”

But the tradition couldn’t withstand COVID-19. The dance and related in-person events like the children’s area and beanbag tournament are all canceled this year.
