Food shelf welcomes furloughed feds

The Lake City Food Shelf is offering food assistance to families affected by the ongoing federal government shutdown.

People in need of assistance can come to the food shelf during its regular hours: Tuesdays from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., and the second and fourth Saturdays of the month from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

“We just want people to know that there’s help there,” Food Shelf Director Carole Helgerson said.
