Long before the park we know today as Hok-Si-La, this beautiful stretch of land along Lake Pepin had already witnessed a rich and varied history.
From 1948 until 1973, thousands of boys passed beneath the famous Hok-Si-La entrance to spend their summers learning the skills and values of the Boy Scouts.
Scout training during those years focused on traditional outdoor and survival skills, physical fitness, leadership and rank advancement, following the principles outlined in the Boy Scout handbook.
