Grass fire triggers evacuation order
A large grass fire near West Newton, about seven miles southwest of Kellogg, led to an evacuation notice on Saturday, April 13.
Firefighters from Wabasha, Kellogg, Plainview, Elgin, Lake City, Altura, Minnesota City, Rollingstone, Nelson, Wis. and Alma, Wis. responded to the scene, along with ambulance services from Wabasha and Lake City, plus representatives of the Wabasha Police, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources’ Forestry division, and the Minnesota State Patrol.
