Horner is first to receive Nichols memorial scholarship

Cathy Nichols was well-known locally as a business leader who managed Lake City’s AmericInn and other hotels. But before that she spent 14 years teaching elementary special education.

After her unexpected death last year, Nichols’ family and others donated to an endowment fund managed by the Lake City Education Foundation (LCEF) to honor her interest in education by making an annual grant to a Lake City teacher to use for personal and professional development.
