My impairment is having one arm. It happened almost four years ago, and while it was a major change, I adapted pretty quickly.
“She improved right away, being able to dress herself and perform basic hygiene,” says my mother, Tara Fick.
At first, I was scared about how people would treat me — especially when I returned to school. I was nervous about the stares and didn’t want to stand out.
