The next Red Cross blood drive in Lake City comes as the organization is issuing an “emergency request” due to a “significant blood shortage.”

Blood and platelets are being distributed to hospitals faster than they are being collected, according to a news release.

“Donors with types O, B negative or A negative blood are especially needed and encouraged to give a Power Red donation, if available.”
