Local humane society offers many programs

The Hiawatha Animal Humane Society (HAHS) is a local non-profit organization that was established in 1971 by a small group of people who met occasionally to address animal concerns and to promote animal welfare. Their motto was, and still is: “Be a voice for those who cannot speak.”
In 2004, with the support of its founding members, they underwent a major re-organization. There are currently over 100 members, many of them active volunteers.
The area of community service includes both Lake City and Wabasha and other nearby towns as needed.
