Locomotive with patriotic paint job seen pulling freight through Lake City

People who see a lot of trains passing through town may have noticed a special locomotive.
“In March 2026, CPKC unveiled the KCS 1776, a brand-new commemorative locomotive celebrating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence,” CPKC railroad said in a news release. “Built in Fort Worth, Texas, this engine is a tribute to American history and progress. It’s painted in patriotic Old Glory Red and Blue and features graphics from the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, along with the official America250 logo.
