Natural playground opens at Frontenac State Park

Frontenac State Park has a new attraction for young visitors, a natural playground.

It is located next to the day parking area at Frontenac State Park.

“The playground is created with all-natural features,” according to a news release.

An oak log tunnel, cedar block path, wooden teeter totter, birch steps, and the climbing log, all rest on an 8-inch bed of pea rock. Big boulders help define the perimeter.

Wally Siewert, retired Frontenac State Park employee, designed the space and built the playground equipment.
