'New' Legion member is a WWII veteran

The Millville Valley American Legion Post 579 in Millville boasts a membership of 137 veterans, the highest total ever, Post Commander Gary Balcome said Friday night during the post and auxiliary’s annual Veterans Day dinner.

Balcome, who took over as commander in July, credits immediate Past Commander Dick Grobe for the strong membership.

One of the post’s newer members is a veteran of World War II, more than 70 years ago.

Lois Kennedy, an Army nurse, was one of several veterans honored Friday night.
