New scanner enchances detection

For over 30 years, registered nurse Susan George cared for patients at Mayo Clinic Hospital – Methodist Campus in Rochester and Mayo Clinic Health System in Lake City. After retiring in 2014, she began experiencing back and hip problems that sent her to an orthopedic specialist in Rochester. The specialist referred her for a bone density scan, and to George’s luck, Lake City’s new top-of-the-line computerized tomography (CT) scanner and certified staff could provide the scan without a return trip to Rochester.
