Ron Steinbauer, 72, of Winona was a little suspicious when his son, Neil, and Neil’s girlfriend asked him to hunt agates with them around Lake Pepin July 23.
He knew that high water on the Mississippi would severely limit how much shoreline would be suitable for hunting. Still, he gamely put on his swim trunks and the trio headed north for Lake City.
