Packing for the Weekend program gets a boost

A program that provides food to families of children eligible for free or reduced-price school lunches is expanding to offer more “nutritionally dense” foods.
Since 2012, volunteers with the Packing for the Weekend program have assembled and delivered bags of food.
It’s a broad-based community effort involving local churches, businesses, individuals, Lake City Public Schools and the United Way of Goodhue, Wabasha and Pierce Counties.
