Privy digger turns up forgotten treasures

Before the advent of indoor plumbing, there were outhouses everywhere.
The design of these forerunners of the modern portable toilet was simple -- a hole in the ground, above which stood a small structure to offer privacy while waste was deposited.
Absent modern garbage collection, waste of all kinds wound up collecting in outhouse pits.
For a certain kind of history buff, at least some of those items are now worth retrieving.
