A new report from Lake Pepin Legacy Alliance (LPLA) points to a hidden but significant source of the sediment filling Lake Pepin, which is accumulating at roughly ten times its historic rate: ravines, according to a news release.
In its new report, “Targeted Erosion Control in the Minnesota River Basin,” LPLA describes the scope of the ravine erosion problem, methods of controlling it, and policy changes needed to target and stabilize eroding ravines.
