Lincoln High School students released 73 brown trout into Miller Creek May 17.
For students, it was the culmination of several months of work caring for the trout from the time they hatched in November until the mid-May, when the surviving fish had grown to fingerling size, about one to two inches.
Satchell Ekblad, Lauren Zincke, Evan Huettl, and Olivia Morrisey netted the fish out of a tank in the high school agriculture classroom as Benji Kohn of Trout Unlimited and agriculture teacher Nikki Beucler watched.
