Skating and kiting party planned for Saturday

Another pop-up event is coming to the Lake Pepin ice near the government pier this weekend.

Mark Nichols announced the “Pop-up Winter Kite Flying and Skating Get-together” Tuesday on Facebook.

He’s inviting people come to the government pier beach Saturday, Feb. 27, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. for ice skating, kite-flying, music, and a bonfire.

He said that Lark Toys in Kellogg is offering a 10 percent discount on kites for the event and that some Lake City retailers also sell them.
