For vet, flight helps heal wounds suffered at war's end

Jerry Abidin of Lake City took a whirlwind tour of Washington, D.C., on May 18 on a Freedom Honor Flight out of La Crosse, Wis.

The Vietnam War veteran served 21 years between the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserve. In the capital he saw not only the Vietnam War memorial, but the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the World War II Memorial, and several other sites honoring the nation and its armed forces.
