A local group is recruiting volunteers to tutor Hispanic adults who are learning English and Lincoln High School students for whom English is a second language.
Tom Boe, a member of Hispanic Community Inclusion (HCI), said the volunteers would address a need identified in a recent survey of the Lake City-area Hispanic population conducted by the Lake City Economic Development Authority.
“Acquisition of English skills is the big need coming from the Hispanic population itself,” he said. “We’re trying to use that data as a driving force.”
