Wabasha County to become 'Purple Heart' county

Wabasha County will become a “Purple Heart County” Tuesday, April 17, at 9 a.m. in the County Board committee meeting room in Wabasha.

A bill before the state legislature permits cities and counties to do the following: 1. Designate itself as a Purple Heart county or city; 2. Reserve parking space for a Purple Heart recipient; 3. Accept donations to pay for a sign or plaque publicizing the Purple Heart status of the city or county; and 4. Proclaim Aug. 7 as Purple Heart Day in Minnesota.
