Weather fouls fair
Heat, then rain, put downward pressure on Wabasha County Fair attendance this year.
Fair Board Member Rob Sexton said the crowd at Friday night’s autocross event was only about three-fourths as large as last year despite the participation of about 90 cars thanks to heat and humidity.
Heavy rains on Saturday led to an early decision not to hold the demolition derby that evening, leaving the fair without one of its marquee events on what is usually its biggest day in terms of attendance.
