Bid on 7th Street reconstruction comes in lower (and higher) than expected

The 7th Street reconstruction project in Lake City could cost less than anticipated, but more than an earlier estimate.
The Lake City Council accepted a bid from Rochester Sand and Gravel that is more than $370,000 less than the most recent engineer’s estimate for the project, although it’s still about $500,000 more than a prior estimate.
According to the city council agenda, the engineer’s estimate was $3,269,543, and the low bid was $2,897,790.04.
