Bluff View service education program teaches to value of volunteering

An effort to get Lake City students more involved in the community and the world through volunteering has expanded to Bluff View Elementary School.

Four years ago, Lincoln High School students began participating in global and local service projects like raising money to help an African village purchase goats and doing food drives for the Lake City Food Shelf. By tracking their efforts, they could earn a ticket to We Day, an annual celebration of volunteerism held at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
