Boil water notice felt around town

On Friday, Sept. 25, Lake City Public Utilities warned customers to boil tap water for at least a minute before using it after a Sept. 24 water sample tested positive for E. coli.

On Monday, Sept. 28, the utility announced that E. coli was no longer detected in the city’s water supply and customers could resume normal use after running the cold water tap for five minutes.

A lot happened in between, and some effects were ongoing Tuesday.
