Buffer usage varies widely

After Gov. Mark Dayton made his new buffer rule one of his top priorities last year, state agencies, including the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA), had to field questions about the impact that buffers might have on clean water in Minnesota. After the MPCA reviewed data at 3,500 stream sites across the state, the results are clear: Buffers improve water quality.
