Candlelight wedding goes on in storm

High winds down trees, cause power outages

Nikki Shell’s and Ty McGhee’s wedding was going to be an unusual affair anyway, an afternoon Celtic handfasting ceremony at the outdoor chapel at Hok-Si-La Park.

It became not only unique but improvised when a raucous thunderstorm passed through the area just at wedding time.

The storm roared through Friday afternoon disrupting the park, destroying and damaging trees and cutting off electric power.

Perhaps the hardest hit was the Lake City Golf Club where 28 trees were destroyed, many of them uprooted by high winds.
