Charter Commission shrinks to seven

Lake City’s Charter Commission is shrinking from 11 members to seven.

The body, which is composed of qualified voters in the city and tasked with overseeing the city’s charter and mayor-council form of government, voted unanimously in October to recommend the change due to chronic vacancies on the commission.

The charter prohibits the mayor and city council members from serving on the charter commission. It likewise prohibits charter commission members from serving on other city boards and commissions.
