City considers utility change for rental properties

The Lake City Utility Board and City Council will meet July 18 at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall to discuss a proposed change to city ordinance that would require utility accounts to be in the name of property owners.

Utility accounts for rental properties in Lake City are commonly in the names of tenants.

At the May 14 City Council meeting, City Finance Director Amy Hove told the council that the current system hinders communication between the city and property owners.
