City Council gives Highway 61 plans a close look

City Council members went in-depth on just about everything but the money as it relates to the two options for the future of Highway 61 in the city.

The Monday-night workshop meeting compared the safety, durability, traffic volume, aesthetics of the highway’s current four-lane configuration with the three-lane configuration recommended by the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) and approved by the council last year.

The primary presenter of those facts was Chad Hanson, MnDOT’s project manager on the Highway 61 project.
