City levy to rise slightly

The levy on local property to help pay for City of Lake City operations will go up 1.782 percent next year.

That increase will raise an additional $56,589 toward the city’s general operations.

The tax levy covers 43 percent of the city’s operating expenses. The next biggest source is local government aid.

Local government aid for next year was budgeted at $773,788, the amount received this year, but that number could be changed by the Minnesota Legislature when it reconvenes in February.
