City lowers lifeguard age limit to 15

A potential lifeguard shortage at O’Neil Community Swimming Pool in Lake City this summer has prompted the city council to lower its required age for lifeguards to 15.

The city is looking to hire 16 lifeguards to work at the pool this summer after the Red Wing YMCA informed the city that it would be unable to fully manage the pool this summer, though it would still teach swimming lessons and water aerobics in Lake City.
