City promotes Adopt a Drain program to keep pollutants out of Lake Pepin

Every Lake City resident lives on the lakefront, hydrologically speaking.

That’s the message the Lake City Environmental Commission is trying to communicate and why it’s promoting an Adopt a Drain program locally.

Rainwater falls on streets and yards, picking things up along the way and carrying them into storm drains. For much of the city, the water and whatever it’s carrying then flows to sewer system outlets and into Lake Pepin.
