Consent vote signals growing council support for Hwy. 61 project

In one sense, the Lake City City Council’s 6-1 vote to give municipal consent to the final layout changes for the Highway 61 three-lane conversion on Monday, Oct. 29, was routine.

State law requires the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) to obtain consent from cities when projects would change traffic capacity, road access, or requires acquisition of right-of-way.

The Highway 61 project requires consent based on all three criteria.
