Council approves transfer of summer recreation program

The Lake City City Council Jan. 10 approved an agreement with Lake City Public Schools that will see the school district take over the city’s summer recreation program.

For decades, the city has operated summer recreation to provide activities for children during the summer break from school.

In recent years the city and the school have been in discussions to determine whether and how to transfer that programming to the school.

Last month the school board voted in favor of the agreement. This month the city council did the same.
