Council discusses mask mandate

For now the Lake City City Council has adopted a wait-and-see approach to a potential ordinance mandating masks in some public spaces.

At the July 13 council meeting, Mayor Mark Nichols said he has heard from advocates of a mask requirement and asked fellow councilmembers to weigh in.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend wearing masks in grocery stores and other public places where it’s difficult to maintain a social distance of at least six feet.
