Council finalizes levy and budget

The Lake City City Council voted 5-2 on Dec. 13 to approve a property tax levy that grew 6.06 percent to $3,937,427 over last year’s levy.
Over the same period, the city’s net tax capacity was up about 6.7%, meaning the tax rate is falling from 64.31% to 63.93% according to information presented by city Finance Director Jerome Illg at the meeting.
